Playmobil

Playmobil (pronounced play-mo-beel) is a line of toys produced by the Brandstätter Group (Geobra Brandstätter GmbH & Co KG), headquartered in Zirndorf, Germany.

New products and product lines developed by a 50-strong development team are frequently introduced by Brandstätter. Some of these, such as promotional products, are only produced in limited quantities. For example, Playmobil introduced limited edition sets with the logos of seven different airlines, sold only aboard flights and in duty-free shops. These practices have given rise to a sizable community of collectors. Collector activities extend beyond collecting and free-form play with Playmobil and include customization, miniature wargaming, and creation of photo stories and stop motion films.

Klickies

A Klicky is a Playmobil figure.  Adult Klickies are approximately 3 inches tall and are a 1:22.5 scale.  This makes for an easy scale to work with for younger folks.

Compared to Lego and Duplo Klickies are more "realistic" with more proportionally correct anatomy for people and animals alike.

Klicky Disassembly

For various reasons you may wish to disassemble your Klickies.  This allows you to reconfigure the body parts and rearrange belts, armor and the like.  You will also be able to add tape to loose arms so that they can hold up weapons again.

Hair Removal

The hair and head accessories should come off with gentle pulling.  New hair, beards, glasses, earrings and such should snap back in place.

Leg Removal

You will need a flat tip screwdriver to wedge in-between the legs and the white locking mechanism.  This will allow you to remove the legs.  New ones should pop back in place.

If you love your Klicky, you will what to cover your screw driver with a layer of fabric to prevent scratching and gouging your Klicky.  You may also be able to perform the same task with just a piece of fabric or string and a little pulling.

Foot Removal

Once you remove the legs, you can insert a pointed chop stick or something similar into the top of the legs to unlock the feet.  The feet should pull right out.

Head and Arm Removal

This is where it can get a little tricky.

Vice Option

You can use a vice to grab the head and use a special modified leg to pull everything apart.

Fulcrum Slam Option

You simply place Your Klicy in a sitting position and slam it on a table.  A folded up piece of paper slid into the front of your Klicky will add a bit more of a fulcrum and protect your plastic.

String and Yank

Results will in part depend on what type of string you are using.  I used a braided nylon which was soft to some extent.

Make a clove hitch and wrap that around your Klicky's head.  Give it a good yank and everything should come apart.

Elastic Band Twist

Take an elastic band and wrap it around the figures neck like you are strangling it.  By wrapping and wrapping firmly, the band around the neck forces the head away from the torso.  Now, turn the head to one side and this should result in separation for the head from the body.

This technique doesn't work for everyone and it may be due to what type or "elastic" they are using.  This technique also doesn't work as well on Klickies with armor or other dress.

Knife Method

Use a knife in the front waistline to force the chassis out.

Bent Rod Wedge

Use a bent metal rod or carved out wood to wedge your Klicky's head away from the body like you would remove a steering rod on an auto with a "pickle fork".

Hand Removal

I do not know of a safe way to do this.  You can wrap string around the wrist and pull the hands off, but this generally results in cracking of the forearm.  People have tried preheating the arms with boiling water without positive results.  You can glue the cracked forearms later after you replace the arms and cover them with paint or bracelets.

Castles

Playmobil offers some of the best castles around.  They are easy to find, but are a bit pricey.

See our Castle Page for more information.

Weapons and Accessories

Here is another area where Playmobil shines.  There is a plethora of accessories available for your Klickies.

Customization

People can get all out nuts when it comes to customizing for Playmobil.
