Castles are pretty cool.  The originally served the purpose of defense in days when walled cities with defensive armies were needed to protect one's self from invasion, conquests, plundering and many of the other aspects of having truly bad neighbors.  The soon also became status symbols of power and wealth and are now associated with fairy tail stories of magical lands, princesses and green dragons. 

 

For kids and adults alike, having your very own castle would be quite special.  You could entertain guests in the feasting halls, or plan you next conquest around a great round table.  Unfortunately, for adults, the cost of building a full size castle is often cost prohibitive.  But if you have young ones in you kingdom, you can make smaller scale castles and at the very least watch them rule their virtual kingdoms and baronies or even live vicariously through them and you help plan fights against dragons and ogres.

Whether it's wood, plastic, cardboard, or actual stone, these can be so much fun.
